Handcrafted Women’s Bags Made in Berlin | Agnes Nordenholz

Agnes Nordenholz handbags are crafted with a commitment to material integrity, longevity and precise design. Each bag is made either by hand in the Berlin atelier or in close cooperation with a family-run leather manufactory in Saxony. The result is a collection of women’s bags that unites contemporary form with traditional craftsmanship.

The handbag line is defined by iconic styles such as The Saddle Bag and The Baguette — distinctive silhouettes with a clear design language, made to endure beyond seasons.

All leather used for the bags is vegetable-tanned, one of the oldest and most refined methods of leather production. This natural tanning process uses plant-based substances such as bark, leaves and roots, allowing the material to retain its depth, character and ability to age beautifully. The leather is sourced exclusively from selected tanneries in Germany and Italy, using European raw materials.
Signature details include the rope handle and the brass twist lock, custom-made in Italy. The brass is left untreated, without gold plating or protective coating, in order to preserve the natural colour and tactility of the material. Over time, both the leather and brass develop a unique patina. This gradual transformation is understood as part of the soul of the object — an expression of use, time and the quiet beauty of imperfection, inspired by the tradition of Wabi-Sabi.

The collection also incorporates traditional Austrian materials such as water-repellent rucksack linen and mountain loden, a dense wool fabric compacted through felting. These materials bring structure, durability and a refined utilitarian quality to the bags.
Within the Artisanal line, selected handbag models are elevated through additional handwork. The leather is hand-painted with graphic lines and sewn using traditional saddle stitching with linen thread. Each piece reflects the time, skill and attention invested in its making.
